Are you an aspiring entrepreneur interested in designing solutions that will help improve the dairy industry in Somalia?
The United Nations Development Programme in Somalia (UNDP) in partnership with the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, the Ministry of Trade and Industry are launching â€œInnovate for Somaliaâ€ initiative.
We are looking for a diverse group of young innovators with different skills (engineers, artists, programmers, designers, marketing etc.), that are passionate about community development, to participate in a five day social innovation camp!
The top ideas will receive mentoring and incubation support from UNDP's Incubator in Somalia and an opportunity to travel to participate in a UNDP regional Youth Leadership event in November.

ABOUT THE CHALLENGE:
Innovate for Somalia (the dairy industry) is a social innovation initiative which aims to bring together the best young talent to learn, brainstorm and design innovative solutions for the local challenges in Somalia. one of the largest industries, in Somalia.
The first challenge will focus on the dairy industry, one of the largest sectors with a lot of potential for growth in Somalia. However many challenges need to be solved. For example, milk production is far below the demand. Other challenges include: droughts causing severe loss of animals and grazing lands, diseases, problems with transportation, lack of tools and equipment like good storage and processing facilities, a lack of hygienic bottling and poor facilities in the local market such as proper milk shelters.
Using Stanford's design thinking process, youth together with the the local community, public and private sector will come together to share their insights, experience and expertise in a 5 day innovation camp. Top solutions will receive more support.
ABOUT UNDP ARAB STATES REGIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME:
This camp is part of the UNDP Arab States Regional Youth Leadership Programme (YLP), that aims to support young men and women from across the region in exploring innovative approaches to addressing sustainable development challenges, with a specific focus on gender equality and womenâ€™s empowerment.
