When: October 6, 2017, 9:00 pm
3 Brisbane St Hobart TAS, Australia (map)
Two rooms, two stages, and some of your favourite folkpunk acts from all over Australia. Oh, and did we mention AJJ?
Yep, folkpunk legends formerlly known as Andrew Jackson Jihad are back. After touring with The Smith Street Band in 2015, they're here on their own headline tour.
9.00 - Quinton Trembath (melbo/vano)
Despite his shocking memory, Quinton Trembath fills his songs with the small details of days, nights and friends worth celebrating. To be accompanied with double bass and voilin. Cheers.
10.00 - Hanny J (melbo, clowns)
You've seen her playing with Clowns, did you know her solo set is damn fine folkpunk? Delivering bare bones honesty lyrics over melodic and catchy riffs.
11.00 - This Is A Robbery (hobo)
From the rotting corpses of ASKING FOR IT and THE ANOREXIC OLSEN TWIN rises THIS IS A ROBBERY. Internationally revered songwriter Chris Burrows is back from the dead with a brand new assemblage of delinquents, gutter rock and anarcho psychosis.
12:30-late DJ Winterbone (hobo)
21st centuary digital hobo. Producer/Player/DJ/Tramp, will play tracks that are close enough to folkpunk for your dancefloor enjoyment
9:30 - Wilson & The Castawayas (newcastlobo)
A new band catching people's attention. Featuring euphonium and harmonica mixed into anarcho acoustic punk songs. A little bit of politics, a whole lot of nihilism all served with a side of anarchy.
10.30 - The Dead Maggies (hobo)
From folk clubs of Scotland, to punk warehouses of Indonesia, they've been spreading their tales of Van Dieman’s Land’s dark and oppressive history.
11.30 - AJJ (usa)
Wil Wagner recently said “Sean might be my favourite living lyricist and we’re all lucky to have his songs in our lives. His songs get better and more polished every album but still maintain all the weird beautiful qualities that made me fall in love ten years ago”.
Phoenix, Arizona garbage pop veterans AJJ (Formerly Andrew Jackson Jihad) return to Australia this September, armed with their unique collection of scuzzy folk punk screeds. Since touring Australia with The Smith Street Band in 2015 they’ve released their sixth album “The Bible 2”.
So say goodbye, oh goodbye to a night at home with your Linda Ronstadt video, and rejoice, because you'll be at the Bris 'til late.
Happy hour 6-8, so you might be there early too.
